7D SRI LANKA ENCHANTMENT

• Rise early this morning for photos of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a massive ancient stone fortress set atop a mountainous rock. You may consider the optional entrance ticket to climb atop to the ruins of the capital city built by the fifth-century parricidal King Kassapa. Thereafter, leave for Matale to a visitor-friendly Spice Garden where vanilla, rubber, cinchona, jackfruit, cocoa and cardamom thrive. Continue our journey to Kandy, a city of delightful chaos, with its bustling streets, ancient temples, colonial architecture, aristocratic gardens and the glorious Kandy lake. Be thrilled by acrobatic performers, drummers, fire dancers and more and enjoy ritual dances known as the Kohomba Kankariya that depicts graceful movements of birds & animals at the Kandy Cultural Dance Show.

• Visit Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a world-renowned place of worship, where the left Canine tooth of Gautama Buddha is enshrined. En route, stop by to visit a Gem Shop, the Silk Gardens and a Wood Carving Factory where you get to learn how the world marvels are produced in Sri Lanka. Enjoy a short ride on the scenic Blue Train that winds through hilly countryside and vast tea fields till we disembark near the station close to breathtaking Ramboda Falls, located long the main road to Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as the ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka. Visit a Tea Plantation & Tea Factory, learn the process of making world’s finest tea while you enjoy the beautiful landscape.

• Bid farewell to serene Nuwara Eliya and journey to Ella, a laid-back small town situated at an elevation of 1041-metres above sea level. Visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, a beautiful colonial-era viaduct surrounded by lush greenery, offering great photo opportunities. En route to Sri Lanka’s widest waterfalls, the renowned Ravana Falls, you may choose to experience the thrill of zip lining at Flying Ravana (at your own expense). Proceed to Yala National Park, a gorgeous wildlife reserve that boasts one of the densest populations of leopards in the world. Hop on a 4x4 Jeep Safari for an adventure that brings you up-close and personal with the untamed world of wildlife.

• Journey to Koggala to view the Stilt Fishermen working on top a stick at the coastal area before we proceed to visit Galle Old Town & Galle Fort, a fortified old city founded by the Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. The stone seawalls expanded by the Dutch, encircle car-free streets with architecture reflecting past Portuguese, Dutch and British rule. Thereafter, ride in a glass-bottomed boat to view the exotic marine life and coral reef in crystal-clear waters of Hikkaduwa. Spend the night at Bentota, a popular beach destination in Sri Lanka.

• Visit Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery to learn about sea turtle conservation and the many efforts spent in safeguarding the endangered species. Embark on a Colombo City Tour that brings you to see Khan Clock Tower, a popular landmark standing at the entrance to bustling Streets of Pettah, with friendly vendors and vibrant atmosphere; the Fort Railway Station, major rail hub in Colombo; the photogenic Red Mosque, one of the oldest mosques with striking red and white bricks amidst the busiest part of the city; and view Sri Lanka’s tallest tower, the symbolic Lotus Tower from afar.

• Visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a captive breeding and conservation institute for wild Asian elephants in Sri Lanka. Observe the largest herd of captive elephants in the world and get an opportunity to play with them and feed them.
